About Capable Kids
What is Capable Kids
Capable Kids is a family and community-centred pediatric occupational therapy practice based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories that provides assessment, collaborative goal setting, and treatment in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, visual-perceptual skills, sensory processing, regulation, play, and self-help skills. Children are seen in their natural environments including their homes, early learning centres, schools, and communities. - child-led play is the most powerful means for connection, development, learning, and joy.
- all behaviour is communication.
- children deserve respect.
- the land is the ideal therapeutic environment, providing balance and well-being.
- as an ally, I must listen to and follow Indigenous voices.
What is occupational Therapy?
An “occupation” is any task that occupies time in your day. Children’s occupations include playing, growing, and learning.
